What is the PT Eleven Nesting Dinghy?
PT Watercraft PT Eleven, 11ft Nesting Dinghy is unique, efficient, functional, modern & attractive.
The PT ELEVEN, is a unique 11ft nesting dinghy designed with the serious cruiser’s needs in mind. It rows and sails exceptionally well. It also nests for carrying on the deck of your sailboat or in the back of a vehicle. See the PT11 home page for details on what makes our kits special.
A 30 year fascination with the challenges of nesting boat design, and many prototypes have led to the PT Eleven. Nesting dinghy design is an intriguing challenge from many perspectives:
-Nesting dinghies must be rugged and practical.
-When nested, they need to make the smallest possible package.
-The interior geometry must fit around the connective bulkheads in a way that allows practical use and nesting.
-The structure must attempt to make the boat as strong as it would be if it was not cut in half.
-The biggest challenge of all is to make assembly of the two halves easy. Our new method allows easy assembly in the water or out, in chop, or in the dark, in about 20 seconds, something we are quite proud of.
Nesting dinghies from PT Watercraft are, we believe, the strongest, lightest and most highly developed boats of this type available. If nesting is not important to you, we also have a one-piece PT11. Read more about the history of developing this design in the presentation described in the box to your right.
