“In summary here are a few thoughts about the three months project that is now complete.

Great boat, fine design, great lines. Performs the way she looks as though she should.

Fantastic manual and kit. If I had paid attention to every nuance of the manual carefully read I would have made no mistakes. As it was I read carelessly in places and paid the price, but nothing happened that was not recoverable. Using this manual has been a short course in boat building. Buy the manual even if you never build the boat.

I have some traditional boat building experience and a good wood-shop, but anyone with the few tools needed could build this boat. It is not easy or trivial, but nothing is taken for granted in the instructions.

Things I would add to the process described: ONE - a sharp paint scraper (that is kept sharp and carefully used) was invaluable for some of the epoxy cleanup that would have otherwise needed sanding that might have damaged the glass weave.

Things I would do different next time:

Read the manual three times instead of twice.

Practice filleting more before attempting the ones that show. Added some 410 filler to that mix for better color match.

Practiced using peel ply more before doing the places that show. I think some of the residual lumpiness along the inside of the chines could have been prevented by better technique.

Recommended:

Buy the Bosch laminate trimmer router

Buy Norton Sandpaper

Stick with West System epoxy and accessories

The Interlux "perfection" paint is. (perfection that is)
